I am trying to gather all the Rasmussen’s e-mails. Some of the people in this group are only related to the Rasmussens by the wedding cake. A constant change of names from generation to generation was common back then. Sometimes the boy took the father’s first name as a last time. Same with girl’s taking one of the parent’s first name and then adding “sen” or “datter”. Sometimes the family would decide to take on the name of the farm they were living on. Sometimes they would take the landowner’s name. Sometime they would make up a name or they would suddenly change the spelling. This why tracing of families is so hard.

Im looking for the roots of my family, could use help. After a brief read through im certain that our family should be on here. The furthest back i can go is my great grandmother Betty. She lived in california last. Her son James Rasmussen my grandfather. His Kids were Cindy, Theresa, Ronnie and James (my father). We came from California and now reside in Puyallup,WA. I know that our descendents came from Wisconsin at some time. Any help would be nice, I have access to alot of info as well.

I am Brooke (Rasmussen) Shmelzer. Herman and Vivian Rasmussen were my grandparents!! I happend by this page while googling my Grandma and Grandpa’s names!! It is AMAZING to see everyone most of which I remember from when I was little and used to go to the Rasmussen family reunion in Solvang Ca.
I am the grand daughter of ; Lars Ole Rasmussen, son of , Jorgen Rasmussen, wife , Birthe Sorensen, and am still trying to trace my Danish roots . Lars was born in Cophenhagen in 1989, and died here in Australia. in 1977 , always a man of strong will, and a farmer. He was 5 ft 8 inches tall, blue eyed, reddish hair and a scar above both eyebrows, this is how he is described on his paperwork for entry into Australia, he was a fireman . Rasmussen is still a strong name here in Australia , and I am proud to be a bearer of Rasmussen blood .
